The beginning of a new month marks the beginning of Netflix’s film season, with the release of some of the company’s biggest hits of the year. Following is a list of our favorite upcoming Netflix Original and licensed titles in the United States.

NYAD (2023)
Coming to Netflix: Friday, November 3rd
NYAD, a new biopic film about a 60-year-old athlete who attempted to swim 110 miles between Cuba and Florida, is one of Netflix’s major bets for the upcoming Awards Season.
In recent weeks, the film has already debuted at a number of film festivals, where it has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. In fact, it already holds the coveted Certified Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.Wendy Ide of the UK Observer concluded, “The wry humor provided by the long-suffering Bonnie; the lovely lived-in quality of the friendship… give the film its mass appeal.”

Coming to Netflix: Thursday, November 16th
Best. Holiday. Ever! Brandy Norwood stars in Best. Christmas. Ever! as Jackie. Scott Everett White/Netflix, 2023 or later.
You may hear the faint sound of Christmas bells ringing if you listen carefully. The holiday season is upon us this month, with Best being Netflix’s major new romantic comedy for the year. Holiday. Ever! with Heather Graham and Brandy Norwood in the cast.
Charles Shyer, writer and producer of Disney’s The Parent Trap and Father of the Bride, is behind the new title, making his Netflix return after The Noel Diary in 2022.
A holiday-themed newsletter ignites a feud between two characters in the film.
The Killer
Coming to Netflix: Friday, November 10th
The Criminal. In The Killer, Michael Fassbender plays an assassin. Netflix in 2023.
Michael Fassbender will play an assassin in an adaptation of the French comic in David Fincher’s second major feature film for Netflix, which is expected to be a crowd-pleaser.
The film will premiere in select theaters during the first week of November and then be made available on Netflix.
The Killer, like NYAD, is already certified fresh on RottenTomatoes with over 141 reviews and an 89% rating; the film has premiered at a number of film festivals in the past few months.
Locked In
Coming to Netflix: Wednesday, November 1st

Locked In, the last of the November Netflix Original releases, is a complete wild card. We say this because we have heard almost nothing about this film, which could be an indication that it is a complete dud or that Netflix forgot to promote it.
The film is produced by Neon Films and Gaumont and directed by Nour Wazzi. Famke Janssen, Anna Friel, and Finn Cole star.
Here is the official synopsis, as provided by IMDb:
“A kind nurse tries to uncover the secrets behind a coma patient’s injury, only to uncover bitter rivalry, infidelity, betrayal, and murder.”

Whiplash (2014)
Coming to Netflix: Wednesday, November 1st
Whiplash, the 2014 film starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons, arguably marked the beginning of Damien Chazelle’s recent run of success.
The film’s premise is that a promising young drummer enrolls in a music conservatory where he is tortured by an instructor.
Although J.K. Simmons will always have a special place in my heart as J. Jonah Jameson, this is easily the best performance of his lengthy career. Apologies, Spider-Man.
Harriet (2019)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday, November 16th
The historical biopic of abolitionist Harriet Tubman starring Cynthia Erivo and directed by Kasi Lemmons will be released in the middle of the month.
Not only did the film receive multiple Academy Award and Screen Actors Guild nominations, but the song Stand Up also received a great deal of praise.

This will be the first time Harriet has ever been available to stream on Netflix, and it will be a welcome addition.
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016)
Coming to Netflix: Wednesday, November 1st
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, starring John Krasinski, is one of the action films that we believe will perform well in the US Top 10s after being added to Netflix for the first time.
In the Paramount Pictures film, Krasinski portrays Jack Silva, who, along with his team, is guarding a U.S. Compound under attack in Libya.
While critics were divided upon the film’s release seven years ago, audiences appear to adore the Oscar-nominated Michael Bay movie.
Mutt (2023)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday, November 16th
Our final pick for the month is Mutt, a title that Netflix did not include on its own November 2023 list but will make its SVOD debut on the streaming service in the middle of the month.
From the independent distributor Strand Releasing, who acquired this film from Sundance, you’ll follow Fea, whose life is rocked when people who seemed to have vanished when he transitioned suddenly return.
Jasai Chase Owens, Lio Mehiel, Cole Doman, MiMi Ryder, and Jari Jones are featured.
