Daredevil: Born Again release date
The first run of 18 episodes has been ordered for Daredevil: Born Again, which is scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2024.
For the sake of comparison, the first live-action Daredevil series that was available on Netflix ran for a total of 39 episodes over the course of three seasons, which aired between 2015 and 2018.
The story of Daredevil: Born Again
There is not the slightest bit of information available regarding the plot of Daredevil: Born Again. On the other hand, the title can give something away.
It is possible that the phrase “Born Again” is merely a reference to the fact that a show that had been cancelled has been brought back from the grave. However, the name of a plot that took place in issues #227-231 is also shared by this one.
According to Den of Geek (opens in new tab), Born Again is one of the comic’s most disturbing storylines, and if it were adapted for the big screen, it would be more intense than anything else the Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought to the big screen thus far.
The story arc of the comic book focuses on Karen Page betraying Daredevil’s secret identity to Kingpin in exchange for money from the drug trade. The Kingpin makes advantage of this information to destroy Matt Murdock’s life, leaving him penniless, homeless, and robbing him of his will to live. In the end, Daredevil partners up with Captain America to take on the supersoldier Nuke. This comes after Daredevil assisted Karen in kicking her drug habit.
According to the information presented on the website, certain aspects of the story arc have already been utilised by Netflix; nevertheless, there is still a significant amount of content that can be utilised by the new series, provided that it is not considered to be excessive.
The cast of Daredevil: Born Again
Only Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, have been officially cast in the show as of yet.
It is hoped that we will see Deborah Ann Woll reprise her part as Karen Page if the narrative scenario presented above is shown to be accurate; however, nothing has been confirmed either way about this possibility.
Is Netflix carrying Daredevil: Born Again?
The first run of Daredevil was cancelled in 2018 after three seasons, but the reason that Netflix decided to pull the plug on the show is probably not due to falling viewership numbers. Rather, it was probably due to the fact that Disney had began attempting to gather all of its Marvel properties for its very own streaming service, which is called Disney Plus.
“You know, at the same time the group #SaveDaredevil started to rise, we started to learn the reasons why that happened and so we understood what Marvel was doing because Disney Plus coming out,” Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, said in January on the Marvel News Desk podcast (opens in new tab).
As a result, the new series will only be available to view on Disney Plus, while all three of the previous series will still be available to watch on Netflix.
Why was there such a significant amount of time between the two shows? According to Variety, after the show was cancelled, the characters were barred from appearing in any films or television shows that were not produced by Netflix for a period of two years. Now that the time limit has been reached, it’s possible that we’ll get to see a lot more of Daredevil and Kingpin than what has been announced so far…
