Neeraj Chopra wins silver medal at the World Athletics Championships
On Sunday morning, halfway around the world from Eugene, he made the fans so nervous that they bit their nails. A country that had only won one medal in the last 30 years of World Championships was hoping to win gold in the men’s javelin. But Neeraj Chopra had a bad day in a big final, which didn’t happen very often. Chopra made everyone wait for about an hour, which seemed like a whole day. He didn’t just do one thing and leave. Not the victory march from start to finish like at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games. Then it hit me: forget about gold, was Chopra even going to get a medal? Read on…

The final for Neeraj Chopra at the 2022 World Athletics Championships: How Neeraj Chopra’s better arm speed helps him throw further
Neeraj Chopra, who throws javelins, has been forced to act like a student in a race against time. This is not his fault. He had to finish a year’s worth of work in about six months. He didn’t have enough time to get ready for the World Championships because he spent so much time celebrating his Olympic gold. Step by step, you must lose weight, get back into shape, build strength, get more flexible, start throwing drills, and improve your technique.
In a sport where injuries are common, you shouldn’t rush your work. Still, Chopra has passed with flying colours. Since he returned to competition at the Paavo Nurmi Games in June, he has won a gold, a silver, finished second in the Diamond League, and broken the national record twice. He is a favourite to win at the World Championships in Eugene because he has thrown more than 89 metres twice this season and had the third best throw of the year.
Chopra has also learned to plan well because she doesn’t have much time. The 24-year-old says he is not as strong as he was at the Tokyo Olympics. Focusing on technique and improving his arm speed has helped him get close to 90 metres.
