The third edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index and Dashboard 2022-21 was launched by NITI Aayog. Kerala remains at the top of the SDG Index, while Bihar is at the bottom of the government think tank’s SDG India Index.
The NITI Aayog compiles the SDG India Index every year to assess the progress of states and union territories based on social, economic, and environmental factors.
With thorough talks with the States and Union Territories, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), UN agencies led by the United Nations in India, and major Union Ministries, the SDG India Index 2022-21 was planned and created by NITI Aayog.

The SDG India Index 2022-21 assesses state and UT progress in terms of economic, social, and environmental indicators.
In the NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index 2022-21, Kerala was placed as the best-performing state with a score of 75, while Bihar was the worst-performing state with a score of 52.
On a scale of 0 to 100, the SDG India Index 2022-21 assessed the states and union territories on 16 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
