Seats, Vacancy and Category-wise Reservation

This is an entrance test and not a job, so there are no vacancies. The bulletin’s dates and scheme do not give seat numbers by category. Candidates should check counselling information closer to that stage.

Eligibility

Candidates need an MD, MS or DNB in a feeder broad specialty, as listed in the bulletin for each super specialty. The qualification must be obtained by the cut-off date of 31 January 2027. Please check the group tables in the bulletin before you pay, as requirements differ.

Selection Process

Candidates take the group exam linked to their feeder specialty. Marks then lead to the result, followed by counselling. The bulletin gives the MCC call centre number for counselling queries.

Exam Pattern

Item Details
Questions 150
Duration 150 minutes
Sections A, B and C, with 50 questions each

How the Groups Work

Papers are split into groups, with 15 different question papers. For most groups, questions come from the PG exit-level curriculum of the main feeder specialty. Medical Oncology and Critical Care Medicine are different, as their papers are exclusively from topics of those super specialties. A candidate may opt for more than one group, by paying the fee for each.
