How Admission Works

Marks alone do not complete the admission. Seats are given through e-counselling, according to rank in the merit list, along with medical fitness and checking of original documents. In Sainik Schools, 67% of seats are for the Home State or UT and 33% for other states.

How to Apply

  1. Read the Information Bulletin fully.
  2. Open the AISSEE 2027 Application Form on the NTA site.
  3. Register, and fill in the candidate’s details as per documents.
  4. Choose exam cities and the school.
  5. Pay the fee and save the confirmation.

Which Schools Are Covered?

Sainik Schools are English-medium residential schools, affiliated to CBSE and run by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence. AISSEE covers:

School Type Admission Through AISSEE
33 Sainik Schools Class VI and Class IX
Approved New Sainik Schools Class VI at 80 schools, Class IX at 40 schools

New Sainik Schools can differ in fees, education board and language of instruction, and the bulletin lists them in an appendix.

Home State and Seat Rules

Home State means the state where the school you chose is located, and it depends on your domicile. As an illustration, the bulletin says that out of 100 seats, 67 go to Home State or UT candidates and 33 to other states. The seats are then divided among categories. Category changes after submission are possible only through the correction window.

Mediums and Exam Cities

Class VI candidates can choose from 13 languages: English, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu and Malayalam. The chosen language does not have to match the school’s region. Exam cities are listed in Appendix IV of the bulletin. Your centre appears on the admit card.
