Application Fee

Category Fee
UR / OBC Rs. 2,000
EWS / SC / ST Rs. 1,000
PwBD Exempt

The concession applies only where the post is reserved for that category and you apply against it. The fee is paid online and is not refunded.

Qualification, Pay and Age

There is no upper age limit for this post, and eligibility is judged as on the closing date. Pay scale, essential qualification, relevant branches and experience are in the discipline-wise Recruitment Rules on the DTU website, linked below. Please check these for your discipline before paying.

Selection Process

The application form asks you to claim points for your academic record, experience and research. Later assessment covers teaching aptitude, domain knowledge and interview performance.

Only achievements completed by the closing date are considered.

How to Apply

  1. Read the Recruitment Rules for your discipline.
  2. Apply through the DTU website or recruitment portal.
  3. Fill in the points table carefully, as it decides your screening.
  4. Pay the fee online, and keep the proof.
  5. Save a printout of the form.

Corrections are not allowed once you submit. For more than one discipline, submit separate applications with separate fees.

Merit Points: How Screening Scores Work

Initial screening uses this 100-point table from the advertisement:

Criteria Maximum Score
Ph.D. 30
Pre-Ph.D. degree of at least 2 years 60
Qualified UGC/CSIR-NET (JRF), GATE or CEED in the relevant field 10

The pre-Ph.D. score is worked out as 35 + 0.5 x (X – 50), where X is your percentage. So 70% gives 45 points. You may choose the eligible degree that gives you the higher score.

Applications are auto-processed from what you enter, so any error is your own responsibility. DTU will then publish a provisional consideration zone, covering up to 1.2 times the candidates to be shortlisted.

Documents Come Later

Only candidates in the consideration zone need to send documents. That means a signed printout of the form with self-attested certificates, Ph.D. thesis and publication front pages, proof of points claimed and the fee receipt, in one sealed envelope. DTU will announce the closing date for this.

Marks Relaxation

For Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Humanities, Economics (USME), Geospatial Science and Biotechnology (candidates outside engineering), the required 55% is relaxed by 5% for SC, ST, OBC (NCL-Delhi) and PwBD candidates. Please read the advertisement for how this applies to you.
